Unicast enters into Collaboration Research Agreement
August 02, 2022
Unicast is pleased to announce that it has entered into a Collaborative Research Agreement with The University of British Columbia and a major Canadian Oilsands producer. The goal of the research is the development and characterization of novel Metal Matrix Composite materials for high-impact, high abrasion applications.
Over the past 6 years, Unicast has been collaborating with UBC on projects related to the characterization of existing and novel ferrous alloys and composites. The research teams have performed numerous studies on the failure mechanisms of materials used in various crushing systems (e.g., hammer mills and impact crushers), and these results are guiding new R&D efforts to prototype new materials.
This new Collaborative Research Agreement allows Unicast to continue important research to develop and commercialize new technologies to support new applications of high-performance wear parts that exceed OEM wear life specifications, at a reduced cost.
